The original tree of this cultivar was a gift to Don Shadow, a well known TN nurseryman from another nurseryman and it was planted at Don’s father’s nursery (Tennessee Valley Nursery) in Winchester, TN by the office. The original tree is still there. Mike Hayman took a few cuttings of that tree, one of which ended up at the US National Arboretum in the Gotelli Conifer Collection.
