K-12 Campus Reforestation

K-12 Campus Reforestation

TreesLouisville has a long standing relationship with the Jefferson County Public School system to plant trees on each campus with the permission of the principal and overseeing staff.

Through this partnership, we have installed thousands of trees at over half of their 150 elementary, middle and high school campuses. Public schools tend to have large areas of land that lack proper landscaping due to tight budgets. Therefore, we provide the vast majority of our plantings free of charge to the schools we work with that are in our targeted areas.

Trees and green space at schools have been proven to improve learning and behavioral outcomes and offer a safe space for children to play. Residents of the surrounding communities also benefit from these plantings as they often utilize the playgrounds and walking paths at the schools.

By creating a diverse park-like landscape, we will be bridging the gap between urban environments and natural ones with the goal of reducing nature deficit disorder.

TreesLouisville has also worked with a number of private schools and universities to plant trees on their campus. Trees are a fantastic teaching tool and can help create an ideal outdoor classroom. We aim to plant at any school within our target areas as we know the many benefits they will provide their students and because schools tend to own large pieces of land appropriate for 50 or more trees.
