Canopy Corps

Canopy Corps

Becoming a Canopy Corps Volunteer is a wonderful opportunity to help increase Louisville’s urban tree canopy! Canopy Corps training is typically held 3 times a year, once in early fall, once in late winter, and once in early summer.

As a member, you will assist TreesLouisville in planting, pruning, watering, and mulching projects across the city. TreesLouisville will provide you with proper training from an ISA-Certified Arborist on the best practices to plant and care for trees.

If you are looking to be a part of a committed volunteer experience, willing to get your hands dirty, and share your knowledge of tree care with other community members, then this is the opportunity for you! In order to become a Canopy Corps Volunteer, you must attend a training session as well as be comfortable working outdoors, lifting, bending and digging.

Maria Sherman

Maria started working with TreesLouisville during the 2021-2022 planting season. Within that year alone, she volunteered with us 14 times giving TreesLouisville over 30 hours of her time. Here is what Maria has to say about her experience volunteering with TreesLouisville:

Volunteering with TreesLouisville is really rewarding. They’re great to work with, and I’ve learned so much about trees and the importance of growing our canopy. It’s fun seeing parts of the city I’ve never been to before and doing something to make it better for everyone. I think our city will be a better place to live in the future because of the work TreesLouisville is doing, and it makes me happy to be a part of it.
