Our Residential Tree Program

Nearly 70% of available space to plant trees in Jefferson County is on privately owned property. Our NeighborWoods Residential Tree Program began in 2020 as a way to be more equitable in our tree plantings, as well as reach our goal of 10,000 trees in the Rubbertown Corridor.

Through the program, residents in our priority ZIP codes are eligible to receive free trees to be planted on their properties for increased shade, energy savings, and many other environmental, social and health benefits.

Once an initial assessment has been completed, residents are provided a short list of tree species to choose from. From there TreesLouisville will evaluate the property and volunteers will return to plant, mulch, and stake the tree(s) all free of charge! In return, we ask that residents commit to watering their trees once a week for the first two growing season from April-October.

Eligible ZIP codes include: 40210, 40211, 40212, and 40216.

This program operates during each planting season from November through April.
